Sustainable Baddie’s November Staff Faves

November is coming to a close, the year is almost over, and it’s time for Sustainable Baddie’s staff to share our monthly favorites. We’re bringing back the classic early 2010’s favorites trends, but honestly, we’re doing it better (or at least more sustainably)! Our staff faves are a mix of susty objects, thrifted clothes, and recent personal experiences. You might like to know what we’re loving this month, and hopefully you can draw some end-of-year inspiration from our faves!

Aparna - @aparnas29

  1. The Seasonal PagesJust in time for the holidays, one of Aparna’s fave places to find gifts and stocking stuffers for her fellow bookish loved ones is black woman-owned brand The Seasonal Pages. They sell beautiful bookmarks, pins, decals, and more!

  2. Atmos Magazine Atmos Magazine is a non-profit biannual magazine and digital platform that explores climate and culture, “curated by a global ecosystem of artists, activists, and writers devoted to ecological and social justice, creative storytelling, and re-enchantment with the natural world.”

  3. Home - Lumi Jin Aparna’s and Celeste’s dear friend and creative collaborator, Lumi Jin, released this single in late September. The song, co-written by Lumi Jin herself, is autobiographical, and reflects on the diasporic experience and rediscovering and redefining what it means to be home. It’s been keeping Aparna company throughout the fall, “she is supremely talented and everyone should check her out!”

Zibby - @zibbytw

  1. Still Life by ALASKALASKA Zibby is putting us on to this indie-electronica album! They first heard the song Growing Up Pains and it shook them to their core, so naturally they had to listen to the whole album. “It left me with a stomachache, but in a good way.”

  2. Their Golf Wang Fleece This fleece was thrifted for their birthday two years ago. New York is quickly becoming brick city and Zibby was forced to break this baby out, "now all the Bushwick skater boys are looking at my jacket with envy.” True.

  3. Baggu Mini Crescent Zibby finally invested in the Baggu mini crescent in indigo trippy, which they’ve been eyeing since it was released last year. The bag is always sold out, but Zibby saw it in-store in Williamsburg and it has become their lifeline the last few weeks. Just goes to show that you should buy the thing that you can’t stop thinking about (as opposed to impulse buying)!

Celeste - @celestuhl

  1. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin this is a great book about -get this- GAMES! Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a novel about a friendship that blooms out of a love for video games and eventually grows into a business partnership that ventures into the realm of digital worlds. Celeste says, “I’m not a gamer girlie, but after reading this book, I want to be one.”

  2. A Coat Bought on the Streets of Brooklyn - Celeste bought this gorgeous oversized coat at a sidewalk sale, and it has been her saving grace during these cold winter days. If only we new where to find susty coats this winter… oh wait, we do!

  3. Su’juk Turkish Fig Candle – Celeste may have bought way too many candles this month, but is there really such thing as too many candles? This candle from Su’juk in Brooklyn gives off a warm and cozy vibe that makes Celeste want to never leave her apartment.

  4. Love Is Blind – Who can blame her! Love Is Blind has us all in a chokehold we simply cannot understand. Plus, there has been so much hot goss this month!

  5. Deleting TikTok – This month, Celeste took a break from TikTok. The break “has really allowed me the time and space to focus on things that I care about, like reading, writing, and spending time with my friends and family.”

Natasha - @nnatashalopez

  1. Solo Travel (While Woman) – This month, I went on a mini solo trip to Bogota, Colombia and I got really introspective about what it means to be alone in this world, particularly if you’re not a straight man, and how safe I ever actually am at any given moment. But overall, it was a beautiful trip and Bogota might be just as cool as Medellin!

  2. Arctic Monkeys: The Car Tour – I was able to fulfill my childhood dream of seeing my favorite band perform live. I’m a little embarrassed to say I would do absolutely anything for Alex Turner, except not really, he’s one of my favorite writers.

  3. Secondhand Bolero – I purchased this bolero secondhand on the RealReal a few months ago, and I feel like it’s such a simple piece that can really elevate almost any outfit. I was feeling a little yucky the other day and opted for an all-black outfit, but was feeling a little basic. I added the bolero, and I think it made it seem like I tried a lot harder than I did!

  4. Funky Handmade Jar – I bought this jar in Santa Elena earlier this month, and I see it with me on my deathbed. It was handmade in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It’s so cute and fits in perfectly with the green details in my apartment. There’s nothing inside it yet, but we will find a purpose for it soon! For now, it just has to sit there and look pretty.
