Dr. Martens is a household name in the States. Generations of us have sworn by the classic lace-up boots, famously originally made from upcycled tires (susty!). So, we were thrilled when we discovered that Dr. Martens was entering a new era of sustainability, complete with a secondhand and refurbishing platform, ReWair, and a line of Docs made from reclaimed leather.

Review:
When I think about Oxford shoes, I think about collegiate nostalgia and styles. I like that with Dr. Martens shoes, you can easily give your look an alternative twist whether you have a more preppy or girly look. I decided to wear my thrifted school uniform dress to style my reclaimed Oxford shoes. While the plaid pattern immediately anchored the preppy look, I wanted to keep it true to my style, which is a bit more alternative/edgy/clownish. I knew I had to wear this thrifted silk top because the yellow ruffle trim matched the yellow lines in my dress and the yellow stitching on my Docs. I used my silver chain choker and Baggu horse bag to amplify the edginess and silliness of my overall look.

Review:
Like Carla, Oxfords immediately made me think of a more preppy look—which is a style and aesthetic I’ve been wanting to lean into more, especially in the fall. For that, I threw on this blazer from Emma Mulholland on Holiday, and to compliment the pinstripes in it I paired it with this striped dress (also from EMOH). But to avoid being too on the nose, I layered the dress with a thrifted jersey and mixed it up with some other textures with this tote from Volta Atelier and pops of red accessories. I really love how loud everything is, and these Oxfords make it feel like a complete and polished look.

Review:
I am a longtime believer in Chelsea boots. I think they’re the ultimate universal shoe—especially if you live in northern climates, where the weather is cooler for 9 months of the year. I’ve had the same pair of black Chelsea boots for a decade, so I was excited to branch out into my first pair of Docs. I have loved pairing these boots with pretty much everything and hope that they’ll last me years as well.
In my look above, I went for Kim Possible from the waist down, She-go from the waist up, with my favorite statement jacket. Everything I’m wearing is either thrifted or gifted (read: er, re-homed from friends’ closets). I chose my favorite thrifted brown trousers and paired them with a cropped chartreuse long-sleeved top. That by itself was a quieter fit I might wear to work, so I added on the red jacket, which I love for its fringe and vintage-y look, as it was gifted to me by a friend who had worn it for years.

I have always been a Dr. Martens stan. As someone who tries my best to make conscious choices whenever I make clothing purchases, typically opting for recycled or thrifted options as much as I can, most of my Dr. Martens purchases thus far have been through secondhand sites like Depop. So I was especially excited to learn about the Rewair & Genix Napa initiatives rolling out at Dr. Martens. I chose these Genix Napa mules in the Thermal Map colorway to play around with something more unique, and I ordered them in my correct size (no sizing up or down). They fit me well, and so far offer good support. They have the same characteristically Dr. Martens-durable feel. I chose to wear them with a go-to outfit of mine because I’m all for adding pieces to my closet that get worn more than they collect dust.
