Don’t be afraid to break away from the conventional holiday color palette! If your wardrobe lacks red, green, gold, or white, or if these hues don't resonate with your usual style, consider incorporating metallics, pearls, bows, bold jewels, or elements with some sparkle to them. These alternatives can elevate your everyday outfit and infuse a festive spirit. Also, if you need a bit of extra luck for the upcoming year, choose a color that aligns with your intentions for manifesting good things in the new year.
Cherry Red. Red this season is everything - such a vibrant, confident, and sexy color! Never met a person Red doesn’t love back <3 be bold this holiday season!
My best tip for styling holiday outfits is to BE EXTRA AF! I feel like this is the one time of year (maybe other than your birthday) where you can be as bold as you want with your holiday ‘fit, and not be considered “overdressed.” No matter if it’s a work Christmas party or just a small gathering at a friend's house, why not finish the year off in one of your most iconic ‘fits? Tulle, glitter, bows, sparkles—I want it all!!!!!!
When it comes to holiday fashion, I always prefer to dress on the more comfortable side since being with family all day can be exhausting. My favorite tip for styling holiday outfits would be to focus on the color and forget about the silhouette. Why squeeze into a mini skirt when you could wear some oversized pants and a cardigan in complementary colors? It’s comfortable and chic! My go-to outfit right now would be some oversized, cuffed dark wash denim, Mary Janes or loafers (don’t forget about the fun socks), my favorite Ganni cardigan, and a colorful oversized crossbody bag. It’s simple, it’s classic, and it’s chic!
Wear what makes you happy but look at your wardrobe first! Maybe there's something there that brings you joy without you having to spend. If you do decide to invest in a new piece, shop small/secondhand. Whether it's THAT dress of yours or something new, make sure it's comfy; there's nothing worse than sequins scratching against your skin and they're not great environmentally either, so maybe steer clear of them?
Holidays are the perfect time to rent an outfit! It allows you to be more bold with your holiday fit and it won’t be sitting in your closet until next year. It also allows you to truly think about an article of clothing. Can’t live without it? You can always buy it after renting! Renting has become my new staple and it keeps my wardrobe fresh and fun while also prioritizing sustainability.
I know balaclavas were a huge trend a few years ago, but I still wear and love my flower one from @mirabellabyceyda. I also will NEVER move on from the bow trend. Winter styling can be hard because of all the layers and puff coats that make me feel like a toddler in a onesie, but adding some recycled ribbon bows onto sleeves or shoe laces is a great way to add something cute to your winter look.
Your holiday look is more than just your clothes—jewelry, makeup, and accessories can elevate any simple garment! Bring all the reds out of your wardrobe and layer up for a colorful red look. Nothing screams "holiday" more than an all-red outfit, and I personally think all shades of red go well together, so mix all the red pieces in your closet! Don’t underestimate the power of ribbon and safety pins—you can use them to decorate your gifts, make cute bows for a coquette aesthetic, style your hair, as shoelaces, or “holiday-fy” a black blazer (my personal favorite) by wrapping yourself with lots of ribbon around your waist for a fun look. There’s nothing like showing up to a holiday event looking like a susty present—your presence is a gift in itself! Another styling hack I love over the holidays is painting any pair of leather shoes with metallic body makeup for a temporary fun silver or green shiny look that totally embraces the colors of the season.
The festive season is often all about sparkles, but I always say if you want sparkles look at what you already own or buy it second hand. My favourite thing to do is to style an item I already have with a festive touch. I personally love adding a pair of red tights, second hand sparkly heels and always sticking to festive colours! This year, to a Christmas party, I wore one of my mums wedding dresses which is forest green and then added red tights, a red velvet choker and some sparkly heels, and it might be one of my favourites!
